PiP and ScreenFlow

In the most current screencast on pl0g.de (pl0g screencast #02 – Griffin Powermate, in German), PiP is used in a very creative and interesting way:

The screencast was created with ScreenFlow, using its built-in feature to record a live picture of the screencaster. But from 2:30 minutes in the screencast on, they’re using PiP to superimpose the image of a second webcam with a closeup shot of some live action. This way they get a TPiP (Two Pictures in Picture :D ) in their screencast!

Birdie v1.5(.1)

There are good news and bad news. First the good:

Since yesterday (02/18/09) is the new version 1.5 of Birdie available in the App Store.

Here’s a list of the what’s new:

  • Fixed column sorting bug in the scorecard view.
  • When a hole’s stroke counter is increased for the first time, it now defaults to the hole’s par (not “1″).
  • New column option on score cards: “Par Event” (PE).
  • New option on score cards: “Preview HCP”. This shows a preview for the new HCP after a tournament according to EGA rules (European Golf Assosiation). This option is switched on in the score card setup view (below the coulumn settings).
  • New setting “CSA” on the “Game Edit” view: The CSA value (Competition Stableford Adjustment) is needed to calculate the HCP preview (see above).
But now to the bad news: Unfortunately, today a user reported a crashing bug in v1.5, when switching a players course handicap from automatic to manual calculation.
Luckily, the bug was found quickly and a new version of Birdie (v1.5.1), fixing this bug, is already submitted to Apple. Unfortunately it usually takes a few days until Apple approves a new version and publishes it in the App Store.
I like to apologize for the bug and hope that Apple will approve the new version as soon as possible.
As always, the update(s) are availably for free in iTunes and in the App Store directly on your iPhone resp. iPod touch.
