Übercaster v1.5 – Sneak peek #3
Improved postproduction
On cut layer we’ll have full control over track’s state.
Locking a track
Locking a track in the Cut layer prevents any changes on this track.
A track is locked by clicking on the “Lock” button in the track’s
header in the Cut layer:

Locking a track means no more editing, no accidental volume/effect changes, no event drops or other changes on this track. Since locked tracks cannot be changed even by recording, this feature also enables the user to control recording on a per track basis.
Freezing a track
Freezing a track creates a down-mix of the frozen track, i.e. a new audio file’s created containing the premixed audio signal of the frozen track including all volume changes and all realtime effects.
Mark a track as “to be frozen” by clicking on the “Snowflake” button in the track’s header in the Cut layer:

Freezing a track not only saves CPU when playing back tracks with a lot of realtime effects, it’s also the way to apply offline effects:
Offline Effect
Übercaster now supports Offline Effect AudioUnits. Offline Effects are effects which cannot be applied in realtime, such as a “Reverse” effect or a “Normalizer” effect. Add and edit offline effects the same way you add/edit realtime effects. Offline effects are grouped in the effects popup menu.

Übercaster v1.5 comes with a build in RMS Normalizer.
