Shocking news

After stealing Delicous Library’s bookshelf design for iBooks, Apple now steals Birdie’s very unique counter view background for iPhone OS 4.0′s folder design!!

Here’s the proof:

Just kidding…

New web server

The website of Pleasant Software (and some of the server-side applications), for historical reasons, were distributed over 3 different web servers lately.  In addition to that, our main server strongly needed an OS update, which wasn’t possible without completely shutting down the server and install from scratch.

Last week, we finally took the chance to clean up the whole server setup: in the night from Wednesday  to Thursday, after a day of backing up all websites and databases, we shut down the main server, erased the hard disk and installed the long overdue OS upgrade.

About 10hrs later, the server was up again and all seems to work. So we started to relocate content, formerly hosted on other servers, to the main server (e.g. http://www.ubercaster.com used to be hosted on a separate server).

If you run into problems on our website (broken links, missing images, dysfunctional  scripts etc.), please let us know. Thank you!

New “Developer Tools” section at Pleasant Software

We recently introduced a new section on the Pleasant Software homepage: “Pleasant Software Developer Tools“.

Currently there are two free developer tools/frameworks available from Pleasant Software:

  • “iMBiPhoneView”, an open source framework for transferring files and data between Mac and iPhone applications
  • “TagDefaultImage”, a command line tool to tag text to Default.png images during a build phase in XCode.

There’s also a new sample movie of iMBiPhoneView in a real world application on the iMBiPhoneView page.

To access the Developer Tools page, click onto the “Developer” icon in the upper left of the Pleasant Software homepage:

Scary old pictures for Halloween

Once upon a time – back in 2004 -, the “iMac G5″ was finally released by Apple with a complete new design.

Back then, Pleasant Software developed it’s own iMac model for the Halloween season: The iMac H5.

For old times’ sake: here’re the “iMac H5 Desktop Pictures”, re-released in up-to-date screen resolutions:

iMac H5 (1280×800)
iMac H5 (1680×1050)
iMac H5 (1920×1200)

Happy Halloween!

Out of office: WWDC San Francisco 2008

In about 14h my plane takes off for San Francisco. I’ll be there for WWDC next week.

Although I’ll check my emails frequently, I’ll be definitely very busy next week. As usual the week is packed with tons of sessions and labs (and one and another party in the evening). Therefor please give me some more time to answer your emails. Thanks!

Pleasant Software auf deutsch

Today we’ve updated the Pleasant Software homepage. It’s now completely bilingual: English and German. This is true not only for www.pleasantsoftware.com but also for www.ubercaster.com and www.showmacster.com.

Use the flag buttons in the upper right corner to toggle between the languages.
