In the most current screencast on pl0g.de (pl0g screencast #02 – Griffin Powermate, in German), PiP is used in a very creative and interesting way:
The screencast was created with ScreenFlow, using its built-in feature to record a live picture of the screencaster. But from 2:30 minutes in the screencast on, they’re using PiP to superimpose the image of a second webcam with a closeup shot of some live action. This way they get a TPiP (Two Pictures in Picture :D ) in their screencast!

We’re proud to announce the release of PiP v1.1 (sorry, it took a while)!
PiP is a free utility to show video from any webcam on your screen, nicely integrated as “Picture in Picture” which makes it ideal for live presentations, screencast recordings and in the educational sector.
New in v1.1:
- Fixed a problem with some web cams, causing PiP to display the video image too small.
- PiP can now work in a special mode, which enables it to be used during a Keynote presentation.
- In addition to rotating by 180°, it’s now also possible to mirror the image.

Although we’re more than happy to be the featured download at Apple’s Audio Section, the heavy load brought our cute, little web server to its knees several times earlier this week.
Sorry if you had trouble downloading Übercaster and/or ShowMacster during the last few days!
We’ve set up a second download server for Übercaster (with automatic load balancing), this will hopefully take some load from the main server. We also try to optimize some server settings in our Apache configuration (fingers crossed, that we don’t mess up the whole server config :))
If you’re able to read this post, our efforts seemed to work…
